USB Safely Remove 6.0 released!

USB Safely Remove 6.0 released!

In this version we have fixed several minor bugs, reworked software update notification and significantly improved forced stopping mechanism.

Improved forced stop

Now the forced stop will unlock the device in all cases where earlier versions failed: svchost, an NTFS issue (so called $Extend\$RmMetadata\$TxfLog issue), when some low level program like antivirus, backup locked the drive etc. Besides now the program shows even such locking processes that open a direct connection to the drive (e.g. HD Tune) without access to the file system.

Reworked software update notification

Now when the program notifies you about an update you can either skip future notifications for this version or ask the program to remind about this update in some time.

Bug fixes

  • Command line tool crashed in some cases
  • Bug report dialog displayed network error on successful connection to the server
  • Minor glitches in interface when displayed in a non English language
  • Automatic check for updates was broken, the program never did it despite the corresponding option set

Version change from 5.x to 6.0

Since version 5.0 released in 2012 the program accumulated lots of major changes: High-DPI support, support for new OSes, fixing drive letter to several devices, forgotten device reminder, improved forced stop and many other options and bug fixes. Therefore we have decided to change the major version number to show that the program has significantly improved over the version 5.0.

Update from May 30th, 2017: Version 6.0 hotfix 1 (6.0.7)

  • Command line tool was broken in 6.x versions and didn't start

Update from June 3rd, 2017: Version 6.0 hotfix 2 (6.0.8)

  • Some SATA devices may not stop, their support was broken in v. 6.x
  • "Notify about connected devices on system exit" option was enabled by default but it must be disabled

YES! Version 6.0 is GREAT! -

YES! Version 6.0 is GREAT! - doing exactly what it should. I'm on Win7 Pro and I had major SVHost non-release issues and another few processes/services that simply would never let me unplug my USB sticks and/or USB3 External HDD's. This version 6 'sometimes' doesn't do it automatically and asks me if I want to FORCE stop. This is fine though, at least it is letting me know and showing me what's going on. I LOVE it! Therefore I 'sometimes' have to click the FORCE STOP option and every single time afterwards it will disconnect the device. Amazing. It really does have some horsepower in this latest version, bending Windows to its will! I'm also VERY impressed with the various other things the prog can do from the little menu it has, again, very impressive and I didn't think such things were possible. Makes the native Windows 'safely remove' option seem just SO lame and, in my experience, next to useless! I'm late to this party, having only discovered this gem of a prog a few weeks ago and I am still trialing. Haven't bought yet as I'm finding the purchase options challenging - can't make up my mind on the options so I may just bust the bank and go $60AUD for the lifetime option!! Lot of money at first glance for such a seemingly small utility but no doubt worth it in the long term. Cheers from Australia boys and girls and thanks for a great product (if not purchasing options!).
