Well that seems to have been the problem, though I thought I had covered that. It seems perhaps I did not reboot after changing the setting.

I'm not sure when it started or why. I will see if I can reinstall the last version to see if that is the problem, but every time I try to start USB safely remove now I get the error message that it stopped working.
