Have you tried to uninstall USB Safely Remove and see if this problem repeats?

Sorry for not responding for so long. I've done some more testing, and the SD card reader works on a different computer that doesn't have USB Safely Remove installed. The problem is specifically with the SD card reader, since I can view flash drives on my computer.

I have a promotional license key for USB Safely Remove; will I still be able to use it after I reinstall the program?

Yes, you can re-install the program any number of times even with promotional free license.
