A really annoying problem. You pop a USB thumb drive or DVD into your computer and then you have to open Window's Explorer and find the mapped drive or folder. Could SafelyRemove add a desktop icon pointing to the drive automatically? Then remove the media and the shortcut goes away? Brilliantly simple but would be most useful.
Try Desktop Media...uses almost no resources, is freeware, and works well.
Desktop Media is a free program that can display shortcuts on the desktop to USB drives, CDs/DVDs and other media when you plug them in, and automatically removes these shortcuts when you unplug.

Hi,
thank you for your request!
Yes, it's a good idea and we will consider adding this feature in next versions. But now you can try the program recommended by Johnboy. Another thing you could do is to use "Browse USB device" feature (menu item in the device menu) to see the content of the device in Explorer.

Would you implement the shortcut idea?
Thank you.
Currently you can do it using our "autorun" feature. Please read more here: http://safelyremove.com/help/ht_useAutoRun.htm and find an example at "2. Auto running Explorer on flash-drive plugging" section of the mentioned page.
