I am trying to get this product to work with ANY PCI SATA II controller. It works fine with any hardware device that appears in my "Safely Remove Hardware" icon, but not the SATA controller drives.
Much like another poster on the forum my drives show up as SCSI disk device drives.
After selecting to view hidden devices here is the message i get.
If i go to the device manager and select Uninstall the device spins down and can be removed.
Currently Tested SATA II Controllers:
SIIG eSATA II-150 PCI i/e
Vantec UGT-ST300
Hello, enuro12!
Thank you very much for so detailed message!
Could you send us USB Safely Remove log file, please? (You can find the log file via "About program" window - just click to "Open the log file directory" link at the bottom of this window). If it's not so big, you can put it here, otherwise, please send it to support@safelyremove.com.
enuro12, I'm sorry for the delay with response. Now we are working on resolving of this problem. In 2-3 weeks period we will release version that probably will stop such devices. But unfortunately we doesn't have these devices neither in our working nor test computers. So it would be great if you run new version of the program and describe the results. I'll notify you in this topic when we will release the new version.
Hi Enuro,
Hope you are still interested in USB Safely Remove. We have being worked on this problem and probably we have found a resolution. If you can help us to test it, please download the pre-release version here: http://safelyremove.com/usbsafelyremovesetupbeta5.exe
and perform the following actions:
1. Run the new version, go to the Options and DISABLE option "Display all storage devices" and see if your drive is found by the program or not.
2. If the drive is been found, try to stop it, inform me please about the result
3. If the drive isn't been found, go to the Options and enable option "Display all storage device".
4. After that try to stop your drive and check that it's really stopped (if it spins down or not)
I'm trying to use USB Safely Remove 4.2.5 with several SATA controllers and none are detected. They are visible in the Device manager, but not in USB Safely Remove 4.2.5, both with "Display all storage devices" option enabled and disabled.
I tried this on several computers:
Silicon Image SiI3512 and XP SP3
Silicon Image SiI3132 and XP SP3
Initio INIC-1620TA2 and XP SP3
Marvell 88SE6145 and Windows 7
In all cases the disk connected to these controllers is visible and operational but USB Safely Remove 4.2.5 does not see it.
