Problem in a laptop.

Post by AkenBosch »

Congratulations for doing a great program.

I have a laptop (HP Pavillion ze4510ea: chipset ALI M 1533, ATHLON XP-M 2400, 1Gb RAM, W XP Home) with a PCMCIA type II card with 2 USB 2.0 ports.
'Safely Remove' detects the card and any USB device connected to the built-in USB ports in the laptop, but none connected to the ports in the PCMCIA card.
Also, when activating 'See all storage devices', I can only see my DVD/CD-RW drive.

Thank you very much for your work and attention.

Hello AkenBosch,
Thank you for leaving the message!
1. What version of the program do you use? If not the latest 5th beta version (4.0.4.695), I recommend you to download it from ours web-site's download section and install.
2. If you use the latest version, can you send me a technical information of your PCMCIA card. You can get it via Device properties -> Technical information tab.

AkenBosch, thank you for the information!

You've sent only information about 2 devices. How many "unknown devices" you see in the program?

Anyway, thank you for the information. Would you mind if we contact you a little bit later (within a month) and ask you to run a test tool which collects full devices information on your computer?

Sorry if I haven't explained it more clearly: the three entries appear in the application correctly identified (same name as in the standard Windows 'Safe Remove') under the 'hidden' section.

Sure, no problem, you can contact me whenever you want.

Thank you very much.

AkenBosch, thank you for the reply!

1. Am I understand right, that you also do not see USB devices connected to the adpater in native Safely Remove Hardware tool?

2. Could you download this version: http://safelyremove.com/upload/usbsafel ... -beta5.exe and see if it displays your USB devices properly.

3. What USB devices you connect to this PCMCIA USB adapter? Just describe them a little bit.

Hello, Igor.

Thanks for all your support.

1. With the Windows-native Safely Remove tool I can see the PCMCIA card (3 similar entries as describe before) as well as any USB device connected to it.
2. Downloaded and installed it. Same situation as before, though, now, I can see three new entries for 'Predetermined Monitor'.
3. Storage devices, Flash memory-based USB Pendrives (128 Mb, 512 Mb, 4 Gb) and hard drives connected through external enclosures (3,5'' Seagate 200 Gb, Supercase; 2,5'' Travelstar, i-joy case).

Thank you very much.

Akenbosch,
It's likely that we have fixed the problem. Could you download our development version and see if it is fixed or not?

Please get it here: http://safelyremove.com/upload/usbsafel ... ta7pre.exe

P.S. Do not forget to enable "Display all storage devices" checkbox.
