Re: NVME SSD on USB is not ejected correctly

As a (late) follow-up: thanks to two new computers, one with Win 11, and USR not even installed, I was able to track down the root cause of this. It is a bug in O&O Defrag. It installs a service that causes any hard drive removal to trigger a hang of the disk I/O subsystem. This includes drives ...

Re: NVME SSD on USB is not ejected correctly

As a follow-up: I now use very nice Crucial X8 to backup my computers. These run very quick without the need to use write cache. Therefore I can easily just disconnect them after the backup without using USR, avoiding the hang issue completely.

I stil hope this can be examined and fixed one day.

Re: NVME SSD on USB is not ejected correctly

Hi Igor, sorry for the late reply. That option doesn't change anything. But maybe my description above was not accurate enough. I just had this: - click on the symbol of the JMicron SSD in the USR List. A small window occures saying 'trying to remove the device'. A few seconds later USR activates fr...

Solved: NVME SSD on USB is not ejected correctly

Hi everyone, I see a bit strange behaviour that might be a bug in USBSR. I have a normal Windows 10 machine and connect a Samsung NVME SSD that is built into a small JMicron Tech controller equipped adapter via USB 3. Quite quick (and portable) when doing backups! Now this external drive does not ha...

Thanks!

@ USR Team: Thank you so much for the new version 6.2! I did not expect this. It was not only a surprise, but welcome, useful and keeps me using USR even on my latest machine in my daily work! I know this forum is kinda low noise, but you can be sure you have a lot of fans out there.

Happy New Year!

Absolutely true and no marketing BS! Using USR is still the way to go for FACTUAL reasons.

Re: Any way to adjust when usage bar changes from green to r

I changed orange to green because that kind of indication (a warning at up to 50%) makes zero sense to me.

Re: Notify about connected devices on system exit - useless

Hello Igor, I am sorry for my flawed report. You are right that USR's notification dialog only pops up on Logoff\Restart\Shutdown. I just remember that I did that on both machines. Still on the notebook the scenario stays dangerous, exactly as it happened. I had clicked the shutdown button and close...

Notify about connected devices on system exit - useless

This new feature drove me crazy on my two machines. I wonder how many other users have problems with it. Point 1 is: this option should NOT be enabled by default! Risk of data loss, see below. Point 2: it needs more configuration, see below too. Machine 1, desktop: has a 1 TB drive in a mobile case,...

Re: No user icons in latest USR

Good to know! But too late for me - I converted all my pngs to ico and used the opportunity to optimze their visual size and add a 48 pixel version :) Thanks for keeping USR on top! BTW, there is a minor error in the German version. Settings dialog, General, Start Behavior, it says: Zentimo beim Sta...

No user icons in latest USR

Hi, I lost all my custom icons in (I think) the latest version 5.3.2. If I try to reassign them I select the file, click ok, and nothing. It is just not there in the icon selection dialog window. I further tried and think there is a bug: png is no longer working. I made a new icon of the png files i...

Re: System clock resolution 1ms

Igor, thanks for version 5.3.2, released as small Christmas gift for us USR addicted! Timer is now 15 ms - case closed.

Any more changes than that? I did not find a history list somewhere...

Merrry Christmas!
