HDDs are no longer detected by USB or Windows 11 Pro

Post by DruidCtba »

Now things got ugly, as I was having problems with the USBSRService.exe service in version 7, so I decided to go back to version 6.4.3, which didn't cause this problem. Then I uninstalled the latest version, 7.1.2.1328, from September 23, 2025. It asked if I wanted to uninstall my settings as well, and I clicked yes.

When installing version 6.4.3 and opening USB Safely Remove, I encountered the following problem: all the drives I had set as DISABLED in version 7 no longer appear in the program, not even in WINDOWS 11 PRO 23H2, Disk Management, and Windows Explorer. This option to DISABLE my external HD drives was what I always wanted, as Windows 11 PRO no longer gave me this option. Only by stopping the USB drives would they remain connected and consume power. So I quickly reverted back to version 7.1.2.1328 from September 23, 2025, and surprisingly, I no longer have access to my hard drives that were set to DISABLED. Although they appear with the hard drive light on, they are no longer detected by my Windows 11 PRO. What happened, my God?

Best regards.

Hi DruidCtba,
This might happen when you delete the settings when the devices are offline. Go to the Windows Device Manager, find your devices and enable them back (see the pic above). After that the devices will appear in the program and you can use them.
