Thunderbolt support

Post by feklee »

Is there any plan to add support for removing Thunderbolt devices?

I understand, Thunderbolt is a different technology. However, Thunderbolt devices plug into USB Type-C ports. It would be nice for USB Safely Remove to support these as well. In the meantime, I reactivated the native Windows safely remove icon in the taskbar, which is kind of ugly.

Hi,
Thunderbolt devices should be displayed as well as USB devices. If you are not seeing them in USB Safely Remove, perhaps it's a bug. Can you send me the report from the program, so that I can see what's wrong?

To do this do the following:
1. Connect your Thunderbolt device
2. Go to USB Safely Remove's settings, switch to Advanced tab and enable the "Enable verbose logging" option. Click OK to save the settings.
3. Right click to the system tray icon of USB Safely Remove and choose Help -> Report a bug.
4. Make a short description of the issue. Provide the name of the mentioned device (how it's displayed in the native safely remove hardware applet) and its drive letter (if it's a storage device). Click "Submit" button to send us the report.

Although, for the Thunderbolt eGPU, I realize, the cleanest way might be to disconnect it using the Nvidia system tray icon:

Hi feklee,
Just for your information. The latest version 7.3 that just released should support displaying of Thunderbolt devices.
