Windows 10 1703 - USB Safely Remove consuming huge CPU

I've recently noticed that the USBSafelyRemove.exe (not the service) in consuming very large amounts of CPU - more than any other process on my system. This seems very unusual. I've also noticed that the icon in the system tray (notification area) constantly is updated even though no removal activity is being performed.

Hi garryggreen,
We need the detailed information from your computer on this problem. In order to gather it do the following steps:
1. Go to Options -> Adavanced -> and enable "Enable verbouse logging" option
2. Reproduce the problem (you should observe high CPU consuming within several minutes)
3. Send us the report from the program. In order to send the report you should proceed to "Main menu -> Help -> Report a bug", and in the opened dialog enter your e-mail and a short description of the problem.

The same problem occurred to me and one of the worst thing was that my windows 10 was also started running slow even though I am using Ryzen 3 2200G but hopefully the problem solved. Feel free to swing by -
