DroboPro support, unmount volume, not device

Hi, I just installed a DroboPro storage device.
I created two volumes on the drobo, and they show up as two drives in windows.
I want to power cycle the drobo to apply a configuration change, but I have to unmount the drives to prevent data corruption.
Problem is that the drobo dashboard application keeps the USB device open, and the unmount fails.
This is a catch-22, the drobo dashboard uses USB to communicate to the drobo device, the dashboard uses USB to instruct a power cycle, if I disconnect USB, then I loose control connectivity.
The alternative is to power down the PC, and manually power cycle the drobo, I want to avoid that hassle.
I want safely remove to unmount the drives, but not the USB device.
How can I do this?
