USB Soundcard or Headset -> Set somehow default sound device

Hello everybody!

Please let me know what you think about this idea:

When an USB sound card (or an USB headset) is plugged in or removed USB safely remove is able to change the default sound device (playback and record) or asks the user. Of course asking should be the default setting and USB Safely Remove should handle the case of multiple USB sound cards.

Why am I suggesting this feature?

I have an USB headset on the docking station of my notebook. So every time I dock my notebook it would be great to have a dialog to select the default sound device and the same goes for undocking. It would also be great to have this feature when the hardware changed during resume or standby... But lets think about it step by step... :-D

Have a nice Christmas 2009!

Michael

Addition:
It seems to be hard to change these settings unter Windows Vista and 7 but maybe this is a good point to start:

Hi Wisheu,
I'm terribly sorry for the long response.

I think that this is an interesting idea but for implementing it as a separated application, something like "Advanced Sound Control" and not in "USB Safely Remove" as sound devices management have weak relation to USB devices management. However thank you for the idea we will keep it in mind on development of future versions.
