Hello phCole,
Thank you for your suggestions!

First, the program doesn't work well with Multi Byte Character Set(such as Chinese Language, one chinese character needs 2 bytes). Is there any better solutions ?

We will work in the next versions on this problem. Now the program doesn't support MBCS - it can only display ANSI charset, not UTF.

Second, I hope there are two options to control the time of mouse over tray icon to the pop window shown and the time of mouse leave the tray icon to the pop window disappeared. The program is so sensitive that mouse just passes by the tray icon, the pop window shows, even I don't want to visit it. The time between the window shown and hide is so lang. I feel very bad when the window coverd my Windows Sidebar.

In the next versions we will try to make the icon less sensitive than it is now. Now you can use the option "Display the menu on mouse hover..." in the Behaviour tab of the Options, when it's switched off the menu will be displayed only when you left-click to the systray icon.

I love the "recovering removed device" idea, however could it be possible to have the icon change colour so as to indicate that a device is “connected” or “removed but recoverable”.

Presently it’s a green arrow either if a device is connected or removed but recoverable.

Could it be possible to have, say, a Red Arrow for all devices are removed but still recoverable.

A Yellow arrow for one or more devices is removed but still recoverable.

And the default Green arrow (naturally) for all devices are connected.

This would be a simple visual indication, without the need to pass your mouse over the icon.

:P

Detailed color visualisation is interesting idea. We will think about it.

Hi!
First of all:
I'm very much convinced about that program. Found nothing better!
Already registerd it.

Looking most forward to Drive Letter Management.

Concerning that,one more suggestion:

Wouldn't it be nice seeing the same drive icon one chose for the tray utility also in the windows explorer?

I found very nice drive icons at iconarchive.com.
Same layout with different colors, so you can distinguish quickly your drive at one glance.
Search for f.e. "Cats Icons"
Would be top to be as fast choosing the right drive in windows explorer or other filemanagers...

As I understand right your suggestion is to make a delay before display the device menu, right?

Do you suggest to make USB Safely Remove a single USB file, instead of several files?

It would be great if you list features you want to see in the next version, because phCole mentioned many mixed features.

1. Regarding the same icons in the program and in Explorer: it's a good idea and we will consider adding this feature in the next versions
2. Regarding extending of icon kit: we currently work on extending the icon package and hope to include some new icons in the final version 4.0

Nice program. Would like the option of sounds playing when a device is connected and disconnted(Vista does). Also, the ability to completely
hide devices from all of you programs menus. My printer as well as my usb hubs show up on there and I don't want someone to accedently click the wrong
one. Also, the ability to chose between having a baloon popup displayed(like what you have now) or a dialog box ( like windows Vista) when a device is
stopped.

You can setup sounds via Device Properties menu. Also you can completely hide devices from quick menu.

Where in Device Properties? There is no mention anywhere for sound. Not on the COMMON, DRIVE PROPERTIES, or TECHNICAL INFORMATION tabs. Are you suggesting that we use the AUTORUN tab? ... and to put in a WAV file or something in the filename box? That would totally defeat the purpose of being able to run a particular piece of software on insert (or eject).

I think I can guess that the reason we are no longer hearing the 'Device Connect' and 'Device Disconnect' sounds are because USB Safely Remove has replaced the Windows Safely Remove appllication which used to do it. Well, that's okay because USB Safely Remove is a great program, but why hasn't your USB Safely Remove handled that function as well as all the other ones it handles?

I also saw a comment from Igor in response to a person back in June 2008. He mentioned that they were going to look into it. Has there been any update since then?

I was very surprised when Igor said he was unaware of any kind of sounds when plugging a USB device in or out. This feature (and the corresponding sound) has been around since Windows 98 SE, Windows Millenium, Windows 2000, and Windows XP (even though USB wasn't much used in 98 SE or early Win 2000...).

I must admit, I have quite a few USB drives and I always liked and needed the sound effect of plugging them in/out. I am using v 4.0.9.760 with Win XP.

Are there any plans on adding this vital feature to your software? For me it is critical to know if if the operating system has recognized the device I've plugged in. For example, what if my device is having a problem. The sound is a regular part of my computing and gives me proper feedback that an action I've taken has had an effect.

I wouldn't like it, but as a workaround I'm tempted to simply not having USB Safely Remove running until after I've plugged in all my USB drives. That way I'll hear the connect sound. Unfortunately, the disconnect sound would elude me because one of the great features of USB Safely Remove is the ability to easily remove a device and even restore a USB device.

Aside from this one feature, the product is great and I wouldn't want to do without it!

Yes, Nikolay meant that it's possible to specify .wav file on "Autorun" tab. On the other side I agree with you that it's inconvenient.

It's a lack of USB Safely Remove. We will fix this in one of future versions. Now I can recommend you to disable "Replace native Safely Remove Hardware icon" option (Options -> Look and Feel) and then hide native safely remove hardware icon via Task Bar properties.

If you mean ability to play sounds the answer will be: No, we haven't done this in version 4.0. It may be implemented in v.4.1 or 4.2, but I cannot promise any certain dates.

I've explained above a workaround on how you can return native sounds. And yes, we plan to fix this and add an ability to setup sounds in USB Safely Remove in future versions.

Thank's, Igor, for the quick response. I will give your suggestion a try as an alternative until that feature makes its way into USB Safely Remove.

By the way, on a side note, when I (and you) said:

I think you thought I was wanting various selectable sounds on insert and eject of USB devices. While this *does* sounds handy, I wasn't really after that at all. If it appears in some later version of the software, all the better, but I guess I'm currently just after the default DEVICE CONNECT event sound and the DEVICE DISCONNECT event sound for the moment. And of course, Murphy's Law being what it is, many of the participants of this forum will probably be very happy if you add that feature sooner, not later!

Once again, thanks for the great program! I had purchased it over the last weekend and I am very impressed with it!

Can add flag to Force unlock in command line
Like
usr stop -f -d g:
or
usr stop -d g: -f 1

Sergey,
We have added to our version we are currently developing a new command to our command line: "usr forcedstop", it closes all opened files automatically on a device that you are stopping.

Try to download it here:
http://safelyremove.com/exe/usbsafelyre ... -beta1.exe

And let me know if this feature is that you need.

P.S.
Если Вам удобнее общаться по-русски, добро пожаловать в наш русскоязычный форум: http://safelyremove.com/forumrus/, на этом форуме крайне желательно общаться по английски, чтобы сообщения понимали все его посетители.
